| Abstract | Abstract: Demonetization refers to the removal of legal tender from circulation in a country. After 1978 and 2016, on May 19, 2023, the Reserve Bank of India declared that it would stop printing notes with a denomination of Rs 2000. Since it is too early to determine the short or long-term effects of this demonetization on the Indian economy, the study thus only focuses on the general public's perception of it. And, as far as we know, this would be the first research on this matter. A total of 400 samples were gathered from the Sadar Baripada block of the Mayurbhanj district in Odisha, by using the snowball sampling method. The objectives were supported by a variety of statistical techniques, including Descriptive Statistics, X2 test, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Kruskal-Wallis H test, and Mann-Whitney U test. The study brings to the conclusion that the overall public's attitude towards the potential impact of this demonetization on the Indian economy will be favourable. |
