Title Assessing Factors affecting the Performance of Tourist Destination: A Study on Odisha
Authors Manmaya Kumar Tripathy , Dr. Rohita Kumar Mishra
Broad area Tourism
Abstract Abstract: Tourism plays a vital role in boosting regional development, particularly in areas blessed with stunning natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary in Odisha is a prime example of such a destination, celebrated for its pristine wilderness, diverse plant and animal life, and breath-taking scenery. While Debrigarh has immense potential for eco-tourism and nature-focused travel, it still grapples with various challenges that hinder its overall success in the tourism industry. This study aims to pinpoint the key factors that influence Debrigarh appeal as a tourist spot and affect visitor satisfaction and engagement. According to the Exploratory Factor Analysis, five important factors that determine the tourist destination include Destination Attractiveness, Destination Accessibility, Destination Technology, Destination Image, and Safety and Security at the destination. There were twenty-five items that had factor loadings above 0.40. Conservation, improved transport, and other services may contribute to increasing accessibility for the destination. The study introduces a well-validated 25-item questionnaire with five key indicators, paving the way for future research. It lays a solid groundwork for weaving strategic marketing into tourism models, even though there are some limitations regarding the sample size.
