Authors Dr. Munmun Mohanty, Dr. Pallabi Mishra, Dr. Ajodhya Gourab Mishra
Broad area Finance
Abstract Abstract: Purpose: This paper thoroughly examines studies on financial literacy and investment decision-making from the perspectives of business, management, and related fields to figure out growth trends, evolution in the domain, influences of countries and researchers, collaboration patterns, and future research avenues. Design/methodology/approach: Research articles on financial literacy and investment choices were sourced from the Scopus database. To explore the research field, several bibliometric analyses were performed using two specialized tools: Biblioshiny and VOSviewer. Findings: The study highlights a shift in research in the domain from the latent state to the exponential growth stage post-2024, predominantly driven by emerging economies, such as India, Indonesia, and Pakistan. Three phases of evolution are marked by thematic analysis, from conceptual foundation to behavioural finance, and at present, a cognitive process-oriented approach integrating digital financial tools to mitigate cognitive biases for wealth maximization. Consequently, this paves the way for future research directions. Paper Type: Literature Review
